Offering some of the most beautiful true blue beaches with white sand, an incredible abundance of outdoor activities like snorkeling and diving, an extremely lively nightlife scene, and spectacular, luscious forests and limestone cliffs, Phuket is a nature lover’s paradise.
From the renowned Batang Street where the party runs 24/7, to the incredible natural conservation efforts of The Gibbon Rehabilitation Project, to the opportunity of coming in close contact with tigers and elephants – Phuket solidifies its case for a destination worth not only visiting but appreciating beyond the surface.
Upon arrival at Phuket International Airport, the first thing you’ll have to do is pick up a SIM card. Once you’ve settled in the car, head to Nai Yang Beach or Mai Khao Beach, both of which are only a 10-minute drive from the airport. You’ll find plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, food and fruit stalls, and Thai massage shops in the vicinity. The beaches are of a super long stretch, so they make for a perfect place to swim, have an evening stroll while watching planes take off in the sky, and immerse in the beauty of the sun setting on the horizon.
Located between the island of Phuket and the coast of mainland Thailand, explore the Phi Phi islands for a day trip, and see for yourself the stunning turquoise water, jagged rocky cliffs, and for a unique view of the island, hike up to Phi Phi viewpoint.
Take a boat tour, and explore the nearby islands, such as Bamboo Island, where visitors can dive into the depths of the water to come close to the coral reefs.
Take an up-close look at the Viking Caves, or for the true adventurers, check out a front-row seat to one of the world’s most dangerous predators, on a shark-watching tour.
Head to Old Phuket town, a historic area of the city where you can witness a wave of Sino-Portugese culture. This part of town is teeming with a wide range of sights and shopping activities. You’ll find shrines, temples, colorful souvenir and clothing shops, quaint little cafés and restaurants, museums, and a tourist information center. This complex is also a great place to exchange money!
A visit to Phuket cannot be complete without stopping by Promthep Cape, a stunning natural site to catch a glimpse of the sunset, on the southern point of Phuket.
Close in distance to Nai Harn Beach and Rawai Beach, Promthep Cape is a perfect stop to get to after a day at the beach. While visiting the Promthep Cape, make sure to also stop by a mini shrine and its decorative and elaborate statues of golden elephants.
Time to depart for the next adventure experience.
